Themba Mbatha is Assistant Professor of African and African American Studies at Washington University in St. Louis, where he teaches on the literary and intellectual histories of Africa and the African diaspora. He is also faculty affiliate with the Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity and Equity at his home institution and, for the years 2024 - 2027, will serve on WashU’s Center for the Humanities Executive Committee. He is currently working on his first monograph on the literary and cultural afterlives of South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
