Sonali Thakkar is Associate Professor of English at NYU, where she researches and teaches postcolonial literature and theory, critical human rights, race and ethnic studies, memory studies/Holocaust studies, and gender and sexuality studies. She is the author of The Reeducation of Race: Jewishness and the Politics of Antiracism in Postcolonial Thought (Stanford 2023), which tells the story of how postwar attempts to redefine race in the aftermath of World War Two and the Holocaust made ideas about Jewishness and Jewish difference central to anticolonial and postcolonial discourse. Her new project, tentatively titled Regimes of Repair, focuses on the cultural politics of reparation.
