Avni Sejpal is a PhD candidate in the Department of English at the University of Pennsylvania, where she is also pursuing a certificate in gender and sexuality studies. Her research focuses on aesthetic and intellectual legacies of twentieth-century decolonization and Afro-Asian internationalism, the theory of the novel, postcolonial critique, and the intersections of race, gender, and capital across South/east Asian and Caribbean worlds. She was previously an editor at Boston Review.
